Rebels Market Feature: "How To Style A Black Motorcycle Jacket"

(Set from Rebels Market article featuring Pete Wentz as style inspo!)

As a contributing blogger for Rebels Market, I explore a variety of fashion-related topics. And recently, I discussed one of my favorite timeless clothing items: the black motorcycle jacket. Worn and adored by both women and men, I showed how to style this type of leather jacket on an everyday basis, for a night out, and for a formal event. Each look is inspired by a trendsetting figure in music or entertainment, and was created to show you the VERSATILITY of the motorcycle jacket.

Casual Night In on New Year’s Eve? Here are 5 Outfit Ideas!

I can think of several hot spots in LA that offer great environments for a New Year's Eve celebration! But on a night where too many alcohol-induced drivers are hijacking the road and the chilly air makes for even a tortuous short walk to an uber, a night in with my honey is waaaay more attractive. While I don’t know what the plans are for us this year (the most last-minute decision-makers ever over here!), I know that I’ll be ringing in 2016 feeling good and looking good. The thing is, I’ve made new lifestyle changes that have provided more benefits than I ever knew possible…which have naturally lifted my overall spirits, reduced stress, and improved the quality of my skin, nails, and hair. This includes walking up to five miles a day and adopting a vegan diet. I suppose the pride I take in having made the necessary changes to my lifestyle is reason enough for me to beam within!

Anyway, like I was saying, if I do end up enjoying a NYE at home, I’m still planning to add a little somethin-somethin to my energy and excitement for 2016. This means a fabulous pair of earrings -- my favorite accessory! These can instantly fancy up a simple tank top, sweater, or even cute pjs, while complementing one's facial features (due to the color, shape, or sparkle). With a hot pair of earrings on and lovely loungewear to keep comfy in, you’re also prepared for pop-up visitors and of course, googoo-gaga photos with your love (as well as selfies galore!).

So here are my 5 outfit ideas for a casual night in on New Year’s Eve! Which look communicates your personality best?

How Bright is Toooooo Bright on the Bottom?

As I lose weight, I am envisioninng new styles to sport other than shades of blue denim jeans. As someone with hips and a "big butt" (while getting firmer by the minute!), I know that I have to be quite delicate in what I pair up with a colored denim pant. Hence: a longer, loose blouse with a vest or cute jacket is probably the safest and most flattering for my shape. While I love the hot pink, I will probably start off with the blue/purple-ish pair to the very left. Just as I recommend to friends and clients that it will be more comfortable for them to try new trends if they comfortably transition into it...
Think the Good Girl should steer clear from going too bright?

The Transition from Summer Fashion to Fall Fashion: My "Street Chic" Look

I love Polyvore.com! It's a great site to play with for stylizing outfits and focusing on individual pieces, while putting pieces together for a great combo. (You can search for items by designer or just the piece in itself.)

What I did: I started with these 80s-inspired gray jeans, then found the strapless top before moving onto specifically looking for a turquoise bag (I love pink and turquoise together). I wanted some more edge, so I looked for this sporty-tough black jacket. Yet, still wanting to maintain the femininity that the pink bustier blouse brings, I couldn't resist the black heart danglies.

So this is my transitional summer-fall outfit I would call "Street Chic." While I wouldn't wear this outfit to work at PlasticSurgery.com on a Friday-jean day, I would definitely enjoy hitting a downtown pub or an LA fashion show in this look.

If you could change a few pieces around to make this outfit yours, how would you do it?
