My Must-Have Fashion Piece for Fall!

I love combining sporty with classy, chic with ecclectic. And this fall, I am so jumping on the bomber motorcyle-like, leather jacket trend. Whether worn with ripped jeans for an overall rocker appeal or with black slacks and a button-top blouse for business attire, a bomber leather jacket offers versatility (I prefer black) and a great staple for my closet. See how these celebs stylized their looks with this fabulous item.

What is your fall must-have?

I Talk Shopping on a Budget and Versatility!

If you are in the Los Angeles and Inland Empire region, try to wake up early tomorrow, Sept. 28th, and check out your favorite personal shopper and wardrobe consultant on News Net television -- channel 23. I will be on at 6 a.m. It will also be online at http://www.newsnetca.com shortly thereafter. This will be my first segment of possibly more to come on News Net, which is based in Murrieta, Calif.

I was interviewed by the fabulous Allie Myers, and talked shopping on a budget, top 5 fall fashion must-haves, and versatility. Tuka, the center gal in the 2nd pic, was my model. I stylized this "business casual" look.

*Remember, the camera adds pounds. Just an FYI.... ;-)

Make An Avant-Garde Statement with 'Lolipop Glass'

As seen right here, on model Whitney Perry, Lolipop Glass is a refreshing direction in fashion jewelry. I personally enjoy wearing pieces that have personality and strike up conversations. Designed by Jonathon Leon, Lolipop Glass will so do this. This line offers one-of-a-kind, unique pieces that truly make dressing up fun! And when you want to be casual, say in a tank and shorts, a Lolipop Glass bracelet or necklace can definitely spark some color to your style.

For more info about the line and to read an amazing interview with Whitney Perry, visit ClosetMouse.com! Michael Godinez had a fun chat with her. (And isn't she just the cutest?)

Does a Red Carpet Fashion Win Hold Precedence Over the Emmy?

Because I love fashion, I love the red carpet, pre-award show on E! Entertainment. HOWEVER, I find that I always start to forget just why the stars are flaunting their goods in first place. Aren't they supposed to win for their talent? Not just what their stylist picked out? The emphasis on appearance is so huge that simply dressing up for an award show is not enough -- Hollywood must wow the world on every level.

Anyhoo...currently, it's the countdown to the Emmy Awards, and I have my TV fixed on E!'s Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic to see who's wearing what, who shouldn't be wearing what, and just who looks the same every year. Stay tuned to see whose gown made me salivate. Because, we know that, image IS everything when it comes to the red carpet.

(Gooooo "The Office!" Steve Carell rocks.)

Lady Gaga Embraces the Bizarre at the MTV Music Awards

I can't stop thinking about Lady Gaga and her insane outfits and personas at the MTV Video Music Awards last night. She definitely made a statement. But what kind of statement?

Bow Ties: The New Boy Accessory?

P. Diddy's previous assistant, Fonworth "Umbrella Holder" Bentley wore them, and celebrity fashion stylist Rachel Zoe's assistant Brad sports his regularly. But now Chris Brown?

Recently, in his much-anticipated (or most dreaded) interview with Larry King, Chris Brown wore a bow tie and a baby blue sweater. Critics, especially the Power 106 (105.9) crew on "Big Boy in the Morning" expressed their distaste for his style, commenting on it looking ridiculous and just not working with his persona.

It seems to me that it was sort of a smart move on his stylist's or his people's behalf. After all, how much can you hate a young guy dressed preppy and innocently? If he were to have worn a black leather jacket and a bandana, well, that would have demonized him even more. So, as for a strategic public stunt, I understand. As for bow ties becoming a new boy accessory, I just can't dig it. The silliness and laughter takes over me, and I feel that it is such an unnatural choice.

Don't get me wrong: I LOVE when both men and women explore their style and express their personality with new trends, cuts, and colors. Kanye (my fave) even appears wearing bow ties! With him, I get it. I mean, if he can rock a black mullet -- he can rock anything. Chris Brown, on the other hand, I just don't feel that you are an authentic bow tie kind of guy. Especially not when the same hands crossed in this pic are the same hands that tore up Rihanna's face. (This is me ALLEGEDLY saying he did this.) I just don't buy it Chris.

So all I say is be true to your style. If this is really on a guy's must-have list of accessories, then he should wear it proudly. Other than that, let's leave the outrageousness to the celebs who get publicity whether they make it on the good or bad-dressed list.

Would YOU like to see your man, brother, or friend start to wear bow ties? (Steve, my boyfriend, has mentioned that he may want to wear one....oh boy...)

Target Does Me Right with Jovovich-Hawk Dress!

Pictured here, is my Jovovich-Hawk dress from Target! It was less than 50 bucks from what I remember, because I squealed with the purchase about a year ago. As you can see, I am wearing them two different ways. I wore with leggings and a cardigan for a wedding, and then without for Michael's Beverly Hills birthday party. (He is the awesome CEO of ClosetMouse.com.) Yes, I wore my same blue suede Marc Fischer heels -- I enjoy the drama of the two together!

I preach versatility, so it is my duty as your Inland Empire and Los Angeles personal shopper to show how I incorporate such a practice into my own life.

Because I love this line so much, here is some info about the duo design team, directly from their site (looks like still in in construction). I believe that I fit their target clientele. Do you?

"Jovovich-Hawk was established by Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk in LA in 2003. Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk design clothes that encompass the belief of ‘feel good, look great, feel bad, look great’. Friends for over 10 years, they share the view that clothes have to be wearable, comfortable and need not make a spectacle of the wearer. Jovovich Hawk makes clothes that are relevant to the lives of independent, hard working, creative funny, elegant and romantic women."
