Remember my confusion and discontent with Michelle Obama's Narciso Rodriguez red and black dress on Election Day? Well, thank you Jason Wu; this 26 year-old, New York designer's white, one-strap dress made it to the stage on Inauguration Day, reclaiming Michelle Obama's style and proving that everyone has (distracting!) fashion flops now and then -- even our new First Lady. (Wu, a designer who is known for his soft palletes and chiffon, truly scored with this opportunity.)
And Barack Obama, our gracious new president, also donned a classic ensemble with a black suit, a white shirt, and smart white tie. Just another reason for us all to cheer and say "Yes We Can" -- true style in the White House!

What do you think about the backlash over this dress? A lot of people are unhappy with Wu's choice to have his next collection filled with fur. I, personally, like this white dress, but am not a fan of him because of his upcoming use of fur =(
I did not like the dress because I thought it was not flattering. It added weight to her lithe frame on TV and she should have had a finger loop to hold the train up.
At the same time I do believe that she would have looked great in a paper bag so she is forgiven in my book.
It was nice but not the very best for her.
I also heard that he did not know she chose his dress (several designers sent her their dresses) until he saw it on TV. Pretty cool for him!
Thanks for the comments! Yes, I too heard that he didn't know about the dress. And I can see how there may have been a more flattering dress out there, but I think it was appropriate for the occasion, the color looked great on her skirt, and it was dramatic and different than any other first lady. I liked the risk! She passed, in my book ;)
I loved the dress! She looked so great!
