Gavin Stefani, Er...Gavin Rossdale...Makes a Comeback

(Their Early Rocker Days) --------------------> (Hollywood Glam)

For years, as Gwen Stefani jumped leaps and bounds with No Doubt and on her own as a solo artist and fashion designer, Gavin Rossdale seemed to just be, well, there. But for those who were big-time fans of his late 90s band Bush, and not just fans of his abs, know that he isn't just arm candy to Gwen. So when I would hear the media or gossip mags refer to him as "Gavin Stefani" (I actually think I read that in Courtney Love's autobiography about 10 years ago, with her calling him that,...but don't quote me on that.), I thought, well that's not fair. Just because his wife has pushed herself into the category off mega-superstar and into the flashes of the paparazzi, doesn't mean that Gavin has not continued to be creative with music or pursue his passion. Maybe it just wasn't as public or pop as Gwen's reputation has become.

That's why I'm so excited every time I hear his new solo from Wanderlust on the radio. It's a great song by a fabulous 40-year old rocker, who seems to also be an amazing father, and supportive husband who did not hide from the camera out of jealousy; rather time and again, he made his entrance with his chin up. And in my book, that's all a tough-ass girl like Gwen could ask for.

Hey Elana, good thoughts on Gavin and Gwen's union. I've always been amazed that these two have stayed away from crazy media drama, and stayed together at all, for that matter. Dating for several years before taking on the responsibility of marriage, then another few years before starting a family? Gasp, how could they? No wonder some people act snide about it...that's usually a by-product of doing things right! And who says Gavin isn't talented??? This is the guy that gave us "Glisterine"...although I could never figure out what that song was about...either way, good for him for finding success again!

Yes! There is somebody out there who feels the same way. I think the funny thing is that media tries to get dird (remember finding out about his teenage daughter?), but they don't care. I especially love the pics of Gavin flipping off the cameras in the park! "Glisterine" -- ahhh...memories...

Good post! I love Gwen and Gavin. Had a huge girlcrush on Gwen when I was a teen, and I was a crazy fan of Gavin when he was with Bush. And now they're together and cute as all heck. :)

ME TOO! I still have that girl crush on Gwen -- she's just so fabulous. I think they are adorable. How lucky their kids are, and they don't even know it yet.

hey Elana, that thing about calling Gavin Rossdale , Gavin Stefani was too bad lol. In the early 90's he was the frontman of a huge/succesful rock band and during the late 90's to the 2000's she was the frontwoman of a huge/succesful rock band. I like them as a couple,They seem like a cool, laid back couple. (I especially love her pink & white wedding dress (which just screams "Gwen Stefani").

I love Gwen ))) sometimes she is so unpredictable.. she knows her place in this world and never pays attention to the rest of it.

Hugs from Angel.

I adore Gwen and her music and if you listen to the early stuff and compare it to the new, you'll see that Gavin had a positive influence on her life. He is a good Father and a strong Man to stride proud in the shadow of his wife.

I think Gavin is a wonderful husband. He doesn't seem to be jealous of Gwen's successes, which is probably a bit difficult. I love his new song, but it is so different (in my opinion) than the Bush days.

I agree y'all! I agree. I was at a friends house listening to his new album last night. And the first person he thanked in his credits (as I looked at the yummy photos of him in the CD case) is: Gwen Rossdale. I love it! It's like he is saying, "To you guys, she is Gwen Stefani, but for me, she is also my wife."
