My Recap: Sip 'N Shop in the Inland Empire!

This past Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the Sip 'N Shop event at the Ontario Grand Inn & Suites in the Inland Empire of Southern California. Being surrounded by several vendors, delicious cocktails and lite bites, and shopaholics, I was impressed by the cool vibe. Put on Myisha Croom-Turner, the owner of Brace Yourself Boutique, the event was a success (my friend Sara even won a shawl/wrap!).

As I roamed the booths outside, with many poolside, I had the chance to chat with several fashion boutique owners, designers, and salon/cosmetic product reps. The Duchess Club, Leondra Renee, Double Take Fashion, and Sensara Natural rocked! Now, I excitedly look forward to bringing you info and interviews from some of these amazing women. Oh and did I mention the affordability factor? All that was sold during Sip 'N Shop definitely did not break a woman's bank. For $18, I got two pairs of beautiful, dangly earrings!

Attendees received gift bags with mucho swag included, such as the latest issue of New Beauty Magazine, nail polish, hair accessories, handmade soaps, and tea samples. I can't wait to make use of all of these goodies.

If you weren't able to make it this time around, don't fret! You can anticipate more Sip 'N Shop evenings in the near future.

Aster Magazine: A Visual Index That Inspires

Aster Magazine, an ezine that offers both visual and intellectual stimulation, recently interviewed me! Not only am I proud to share that such a fabulous online publication decided to feature me (Justine, the endearing writer who accompanied me to meet Steve Madden, did a phenomenal job!), I am proud to introduce you to Aster Magazine due to its unique concept and approach towards all that is art. And yes, that naturally includes fashion.

Initially launching as a magazine that featured artists who directly engaged with Aster, this mag has grown into a full-fledged work of art in itself. The focus on creativity is evident in that it "includes professional works in lifestyle, fashion, art, design, photography, music, architecture and other mediums," while showing an appreciation for those behind the processes. So you can imagine my delight in being asked for an interview, considering the inspiring direction and philosophy of this magazine.

Being recognized as a professional personal shopper and fashion blogger is totally fulfilling -- an experience that I, the Good Girl Gone Shopping, will never forget.

Spring 2011 L.A.M.B. Fashion Show Favorites!

While I have attended Los Angeles Fashion Week on several occasions, I have yet been able to make it to New York Fashion Week -- a place where I am told the fun REALLY starts. And every time I miss it, I pretty much bum out on this one major thing: missing out on Gwen's L.A.M.B. show at Bryant Park. I adore many other designers that showed, including Charlotte Ronson, Custo Barcelona, Tracey Reese, Betsey Johnson, Vera Wang, Nanette Lepore, and Isaac Mizrahi; however, L.AM.B. is, in my book, like no other. Her consistent combination of edgy, hipster street style meets whimsical boho-yet-classic couture was what made this ready-to-wear collection memorable for me. The rasta factor didn't make it on catwalk this season, but I am fine with that. Too much of a good thing can actually kill it.

So this blog post is basically an homage to Gwen, showing off some of her best designs from this past Spring 2011 show. (For now, I can at least enjoy clear images on style.com.)

Before You Adopt a New Fashion Trend...

Fall will be here before we know it. This means new fall fashion! But how do you determine which trend(s) will best fit your personality, lifestyle, size, and shape? My biggest tip to you, before you go shopaholic crazy (besides staying on a buget), is this: Think comfort!

Whether you are ready for tall, camel-colored knee-high boots or want to finally try out a pant jumper, be real with yourself. After you consider all of the aforementioned factors, such as your size, shape, and lifestyle, think about how you move when wearing an item of clothing. It's a problem, folks, if when you bend over you have to hold the back of your pants up, squat and rip your jeans, walk in heeled shoes and want to cry 'cause of pinched toes, and/or wear a blouse and the front buttons fly off.

Speaking from experience, when you think comfort, everything else will fall into place. So before you adopt a new trend, know thy body first.
