BlogTalkRadio Interview #2 -- "Fabulous Fashions for Under $100"

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES BEGINNING OF SHOW - STAY TUNED.

'Good Girl Gone Shopping' goes LIVE again tonight at 7 p.m PAC time. I was first interviewed on BlogTalkRadio with Barbara Howard ("The Recipe Box") last month, early September.

We had such a fun time chit-chatting; so much that Barbara asked that I come back to provide more tips and insight to shopping on a budget and Fall fashion. (Originally, I was supposed to appear Oct. 17th, but various projects got me frazzled! Barbara was kind to let me reschedule.)

Oh, and I will be doing a giveaway on tonight's show [Hint: Shoe Smitten]. So if you are on the west coast, no worries: you will still make it in time for America's Next Top Model and Stylista. The BlogTalkRadio show is less than an hour!

Stylista: Another Tyra Banks Production on the CW

Take a bunch of young 20-somethings with a passion for fashion and chic, ecclectic, yet debatable styles, and put them in competition with one another for a spot at Elle Magazine. They all want to be the next junior editor. The prize for the winner is amazing, but this group has an insanely tough editor to impress -- Anne Slowey. Think The Devil Wears Prada's "Miranda Priestly." Definitely entertaining, educational, and easy to switch off if you just can't take it anymore.

Did you watch it? It is a Tyra Banks production, following Wednesday night's America's Next Top Model, at 9 p.m. Yup, another hit.

Where Business and Media Meet (My Dad's New Blog!)

I grew up seeing my mom balancing bills with an electrical calculator (printed receipts and everything) and enjoying the art projects she created for me, my brother, and sister. I think building robots out of toilet paper rolls and shoe boxes was one of my favorites.

I also grew up seeing my dad's to-do list on the dining room table, numbered and written clearly; proving his clear intention of accomplishing multiple tasks in one day. Yes, like father like daughter.

So, like a the Good Girl I am, I keep my parents up to date with what I do -- everything from building my PlasticSurgery.com writing department and being take out for sushi on Bosses Day to the fashion shows I have attended, my joy in personal shopping, and how this blog of mine has changed my life.

Now, I am proud to state that I have encouraged my parents to be the coolest parents ever - and create a blog. While my mother's site is in the works, which will be based on her 25 years of being a child development educator, my pop's is LIVE and kicking. Where Business and Media Meet is one Web site to add to your favorites -- I created it.

He is producer of a local television program, Inside the Inland Valley, owner of WOW Action Services (photography and videography), a real estate broker, and the most supportive father one could ask for. So if you subscribe, I guarantee you will receive beneficial information about all areas of business and media. Coming up on Where Business and Media Meet: the dangers of sour candy. Of course, just in time for Halloween!

Many of my day-to-day challenges succeed after phone conversations with my dad, Ed Pruitt. So I attest to his knowledge and experience. Feel free to check out our recent interview! And if you decide to leave a comment, just say the Good Girl Gone Shopping sent ya.

Wednesday Night Fashion TV -- America's Next Top Model vs. Project Runway

OK, so I saw the finale of Project Runway. Congrats Leanne! I'm very happy for her -- this gal's designs are so artistic and 3-dimensional that it's really mind-blowing. But deep down, I'm not gonna lie, Korto's designs were more up my alley. Kenley had some cool pieces, but I agree with you, Heidi -- her attitude is hard to digest. (Plus, I actually didn't care for the tree in her hair at Bryant Park - "the day of.")

...Onto America's Next Top Model -- I have only watched like the first episode this season. One of the main reasons I stopped was due to the silliness of Tyra and her boys. It got a bit much. But now, I'm sad that I missed the makeover episode and all of cat fighting in the house, I'm sure. My kickboxing class is Wednesday evenings, so while I made it in time for ANTM at 8 p.m., I preferred to take a breather and relax before the final of Project Runway later at 9 p.m.

Anywho -- share your thoughts about either of the shows, and tell me what I'm (or not) missing from Tyra and her crew. I do miss Nigel, though.

I Entered the Lucky Magazine Denim Transformation Challenge!

I totally decided to take part in this contest, and tell you about it! If you enter, please let me know as I will check out your look. This is very exciting! I would love for you to give me your feedback. I rarely take pics from head to toe, but this past Sunday, Steve and I had fun with the camera.

Good luck! (My, how I would give up an arm and a leg, and my Betsey Johnson wedges, to be a finalist.)

Which designer magazine ads are your favorite?

Hands down for me is Marc Jacobs - he is so daring and playful. And for years, I really felt that wearing his clothes would make me feel that way! Oddly enough, I do have one pair of his gaucho denim pants that actually make me feel quite glamorous. Huh.

Runner-up would be Louis Vuitton's glam ads.

What are yours?

Get 10% off at Shoe Smitten Boutique!

From the way a new pair smells right out of the box to the way a sexy heel hugs our feet -- shoes are a fashionista girl's best friend. So if you want to take feet fashion to a new level, a trip to Shoe Smitten Boutique gives you ideas on how to protect your shoes as well keep your feet feeling soft...

My recent Q&A with owner, Anna Bassham:

When did you develop the concept of Shoe Smitten boutique?

It all started when I realized that I love shoes, and I wanted to learn about all of the designers. I started Shoe Smitten blog to get acquainted with blogging and the fashion community. The boutique was an idea I got one day when I realized that there aren't any online stores out there that only sell shoe accessories and items for shoe lovers. I thought, what a great niche! I don't have to stock all sorts of sizes (like I would have had to do to sell shoes) and I can help people all over to celebrate their passion for shoes.

Is this a one-woman business? Do you run both the boutique and blog?

Yes, this is a one-woman business. I write the blog, and I run the boutique. It's time-consuming, but it's totally worth it to me. I never get sick of answering questions about shoes or accessories.

What type of women would benefit from being a customer of yours?

Any woman who loves shoes, and wants to update her shoe wardrobe without spending a fortune on new shoes - she can simply buy some of my Absolutely Audrey shoe clips to add some bling to a plain pair of pumps. If you love shoes, and like to be stylish, you will like the items on Shoe Smitten Boutique. I even have sterling silver charms in the shapes of designer shoes.

Will you eventually start selling shoes or stick specifically to shoe accessories (which is totally unique!)?

Well, right now I plan on sticking to shoe accessories and gifts, but if the opportunity arose I would love to start my own line of shoes. But first, I'll have to take some shoe design courses! I am considering doing that after I finish my journalism degree.

One of my favorite products of Shoe Smitten is the clear shoe boxes. I can imagine how convenient it makes it to find a pair of shoes amongst the gillion that most women have. Do you have a favorite Shoe Smitten product?

My favorite Shoe Smitten products would have to be the Margarita Bloom Organic Foot Creme. It smells delicious and feels amazing on tired feet.

Tell me about yourself and your start in fashion....

I am a journalism (strategic communications) student at the University of Kansas. I graduate this December, and I hope to then get a job in online marketing or advertising. I currently work at a company as a social media marketer for their multiple web stores. My long-term goal is to be a WAHM and be able to focus my full attention on Shoe Smitten Boutique and the blog. I have big dreams for my sites, and I can't wait to explore the future opportunities. I am also considering taking some design courses so I can possibly design my own line of shoes. They would definitely be high heels and funky styles!

Me, an Inland Empire personal shopper, wardrobe consultant, and an admitted self-proclaimed shopaholic, I love when I can offer deals, specials, and discounts on items that the owner him or herself determines. So, when the shopping bug attacks you and you wanna make a purchase at Shoe Smitten Boutique, just use code SMITTEN10 at checkout.

Kickboxing to Kick a Bad Habit

I completed my first kickboxing class today at the gym. My friend Andrea ("Dre") and Jana speak so highly of it that it was time I took part in the madness. And while I don't necessarily -- or at ALL -- resemble the chick in this pic, I felt pretty hot sweating and looking tough in the class. I mean it sooooo does a body good. Of course, at some points, I mixed up steps and had to stand aside and let Dre show me how things are done. But I stayed with it, sweat like crazy, and was so proud that I decided to choose a workout this evening instead of good 'ol Parliaments.

So this will be my regular Wednesday 6:30 pm class amongst my 3-4 days working out doing cardio. I'm still determined to get back into the fit shape I used to be so very proud of.

Now....first up: some fabulous, comfy kickboxing workout clothes. Yay! That is one area where I rarely splurge. It's time I finally give in.
